While reading Galatians chapter 1 recently, verse six jumped out at me … “I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and are turning to a different gospel—”
There is nothing new under the sun. Different gospels abound, those of justification by works, by other god’s (allah, and others), those announced by other messengers, and others that preach grace without obedience to Christ, removing sanctification and the gospel of self (my joy, my pleasure, etc.). Satan is busy twisting the gospel as he always has … he is a liar and too often my thoughts assists.
I must be in the Word daily, weighing everything I do and say against scripture alone and not through those present or the culture. And it must be the full text, not snippets to make “my” point, but the whole counsel of God. He has authority over my thoughts and my deeds.
Father, search me and reveal any wickedness in me. Give me healing from that wickedness and discernment to do Your will. If you do not heal me, let these weaknesses show Your glory as You are glorified through them. May I become lesser and You more. Amen!!
Oh so true! It was the same with Job and his counsellors, they only saw a part of the picture and not the WHOLE counsel of God. Let us stir one another on to the fullness of God in us.
