Eternity in Our Hearts

The work of creation is that wherein God did in the beginning, by the Word of his power, make of nothing the world, and all things therein, for himself, within the space of six days, and all very good.
(Westminster Confession of Faith, Larger Catechism, Question 15)

God has made everything beautiful for its own time. He has planted eternity in the human heart, but even so, people cannot see the whole scope of God’s work from beginning to end.
Ecclesiastes 3:11

I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.
John 10:28-30

It is with the deepest gratitude that I dedicate this small volume to my friend, mentor, and pastor, Robert S. Williamson and to his wonderful wife Beulah. After years of failure in grade school, Beulah taught a child who could not sit still, how to read. And then taking me in hand, explained to me God’s Law. I would not have known sin except through the Law. Romans 7:7 And after getting my attention, she ushered me into the joy of the eternal Kingdom with the Gospel. Guilt, Grace, Gratitude the Heidelberg Catechism’s ideal trilogy! Throughout his life Robert taught me God’s Word, and both counseled and challenged me. In addition, Bob and his exceptional family were always great fun to camp with! The backbone of this book was taken from his sermon notes, “The Four Last Things” preached at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Lancaster Pennsylvania, to the best of my knowledge, in 1989, just several years before he entered into the joy of his eternal heavenly home.

To make this book easily understandable, Bible quotes are in Bold.
