Woke

The men of Issachar understood the times and knew what Israel should do. I Chronicles 12:32

It is the purpose of this study to compare Biblical Christianity to the counterfeit religion of Critical Theory. For example, are the two terms, Justice and Social Justice interchangeable? Do they mean the same thing? Are they compatible? Does it matter?

If you have children or grandchildren who will attend public school or go to college these meanings should matter to you.

If you are an alumnus of a school and they are asking for donations these meanings should matter.

If you watch the news or listen to campaign speeches and want to know what folks mean when they use these terms then it should matter. If you care about how your nation is governed it should matter.

Social Justice requires resource equity, fairness, and respect for diversity, as well as the eradication of existing forms of social oppression. Social Justice entails a redistribution of resources from those who have unjustly gained them to those who justly deserve them, and it also means creating and ensuring the process of truly democratic participation in decision-making. Only a decisive redistribution of resources and decision-making power can ensure Social Justice and authentic democracy. -American Sociological Review

Social Justice is never about justice. It is about power and payback. It is about superimposing the Marxist paradigm of oppressor-versus-oppressed on every one of society’s structures, traditions, and moral codes, then ratcheting up the pressure until they all collapse – to be replaced by the redistributive justice of the collectivist State. -Mark Tapson

The term Social Justice is an historically well defined and established term that relates to a proletariat-bourgeois power struggle and the redistribution of wealth. The term was invented by the Jesuit priest and early communist philosopher, Luigi Taparelli.

There is a world of difference between what Christians think of justice and what those who invented the term Social Justice mean by it. One example, when Christians think of justice, we should think of abortion and the Biblical mandate to convict under law abortion doctors and mothers who murder their babies. That’s justice. But when the Social Justice crowd uses the term, they teach that the already born [i.e. the aborted child’s parents] are marginalized, having less money and influence and therefore wealth should be redistributed from one group to another group. The Bible calls that theft and it’s a violation of the 8th Commandment. In other words, if we truly loved our neighbor, we would not be promoting Social Justice.” -J.D. Hall

Sorting This Out

There is a new counterfeit Gospel being taught in Colleges, high schools and even preschools in the West. Graduates are now entering into the society as proselytes of this religion, spreading it far and wide; broadcast and print journalism, schools, businesses, entertainment, government.

As the Bible warned: But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let them be under God’s curse! Galatians 1:8

What does this counterfeit religion teach?

  1. Like Christianity this religion teaches the doctrine of original
sin. The world is deeply flawed. Evil is rampant.
  2. The religion has Priests and Evangelists to proselytize.
  3. Justification is offered to those who repent.
  4. Righteousness is imputed to the believer.
  5. There is an established Sainthood.
  6. Believers are to do penance, and live lives of self-denial.
  7. Believers gather regularly for corporate worship.
  8. Believers are taught to be aware of demons and resist and flee from them.
  9. Those who teach against the faith are heretics who must be silenced.
  10. Those who have left the faith are apostates who must be shunned and silenced.

This religion is known as Critical Theory.

We will examine these Critical Theory Religious Doctrines in order, so that we can understand how these doctrines parallel and counterfeit the truth as revealed by the Creator God in the Bible.

  1. Like Christianity before it Critical Theory understands the world to be deeply flawed. However rather than defining “Sin as any want of conformity unto, or transgression of, the law of God” (Westminster Shorter Catechism, Question 14) they define evil as inequity in society. Any inequity is by definition Social Injustice. The Doctrine of Social Justice seeks not equal opportunity for everyone but, rather Social Justice seeks equity of outcomes for everyone.

Whereas God made everyone equal, in his image, God created mankind in his own image… male and female he created them. Genesis 1:27, and equal as one race, From one man he made all the nations. Acts 17:26, and There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male or female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. Galatians 3:28

Social Justice teaches that people are to be divided on the basis of all sorts of artificial categories; skin color, sexual identity, religion, social status, economic status, nationality, culture, etc. and teaches that life is a zero sum game, meaning that the success of one group necessarily comes at the expense of another group; if one group is successful other groups necessarily must be unsuccessful.

As a result social justice seeks to:

  • Identify disadvantaged groups: women, blacks, Muslims, LGBTQA+, and others.
  • Assign blame for each group’s disadvantages.
  • Determine acceptable outcomes for each group.
  • Redistribute power and resources to address grievances and insure equity of outcomes.

In doing this Social Justice harnesses the government to use its power to do what Critical Theory defines as best for each group, redistributing such things as justice, income, health care, education, etc. and removing what it defines as the privilege of the oppressor group and rebalancing the scales of justice in favor of the newly defined oppressed victim group de jour.

Social Justice never seeks equality of opportunity for individuals regardless of race, or any other criteria. In other words, turning Martin Luther King Jr. on his head, rather than judging individuals on the “content of their character” people are instead judged based on the group they belong to. Social Justice seeks equity of outcome for at least four main groups:

  • Minorities
  • Women
  • LBGTQA+
  • Climate Change
  1. Christianity has Pastors and Priests. Critical Theory religion also has Priests and Evangelists to proselytize: Social Justice Warriors.

Professor Voddie Baucham, PhD has done an excellent job describing the role of the Social Justice Warrior. In summary: Harvard professors, Marshall Kirk and Hunter Madsen wrote a book that they describe as a propaganda strategy, “After the Ball” for gaining Social Justice for homosexuals. Their ideas were so successful that Social Justice warriors have universally adopted their strategy.

Phase One: Desensitize. They advocated getting everyone used to seeing homosexuality by first misrepresenting it as a normal lifestyle and second portraying it everywhere; TV, movies, theater, education. They also advised changing the language, replacing the accepted Biblical term sodomite with words such as queer, gay, sexual minority, etc. Until 1973 according to the American Psychiatric Association’s Diagnostic and Statistical Manual, homosexuality was understood to be a perversion or delusional disorder that could be successfully treated however, now it is such an accepted lifestyle that advertisers frequently use homosexual couples to sell products.

Phase Two: Jamming. Make opposing homosexuality or any of the LGBTQA+ agenda a hate crime. In fact saying anything short of acceptance and celebration of any LGBTQA+ behavior is considered hate speech. Thus to oppose homosexual marriage is to be a Nazi or equivalent to membership in the KKK. The point is to shame people into not only silence but open acceptance.

Phase Three: Conversion. Homosexuality may only be 1-2% of the population, and so called transgender may only be ½ of a percent of the population, however the A in LGBTQA+ stands for allies. Once you believe that LGBTQ’s are aggrieved sexual minorities you have become desensitized, and once you feel guilty for having believed that homosexuality is a perversion of the creation, condemned by God as an abomination, you can be enlisted as an ally, a co-belligerent in the cause.

This strategy can be used for any of the Social Justice causes. Have you heard the reasoning that climate change is responsible for terrorist attacks and illegal immigration? Social Justice.

Have you ever wondered why abortion is never addressed as human rights for the unborn but rather is addressed only as equal access to abortion rights? Social Justice.

Have you ever wondered why simply quoting from the Muslim’s sacred book, the Quran, is considered hate speech? Social Justice.

Have you ever wondered why saying that there are two genders, based in the hard science of genetics, is considered a hate crime? Social Justice.

Have you ever wondered why saying, “All lives matter” is racist? Social Justice.

Have you ever wondered why after millennia marriage between a man and a woman has now been redefined to include men being married to men and women to women? Social Justice.

Have you ever wondered why saying that the Biblical teaching of the nuclear family as the basic building block of society is false and outdated? Social Justice.

  1. Just like in Christianity, in Critical Theory, Justification is offered to those who repent: Repentance begins when the uninitiated, the unbelievers, are chastised with the term Check Your Privilege. In checking their privilege, the penitent sinner recognizes their former blindness and embraces Social Justice. In the words of John Newton’s famous hymn, Amazing Grace, the new believer can say, “I once was lost but now I’m found, was blind but now I see.

This doctrine is known as being Woke. Those who are woke have confessed their sin of not being aware of, not being allied with, and supporting all victim groups. Those who are woke have become allies with those victim groups.

Whereas in Christianity sin is defined as any transgression against the law of God that the Creator has revealed to mankind, Critical Theory has a very different definition and, in fact, opposite definition of sin.

Sin has been redefined as NOT accepting and NOT celebrating LGBTQA+ lifestyle, NOT using the proper pronouns, NOT supporting or, as a pastor, NOT performing same sex marriages, NOT being willing to date Transgender individuals, NOT accepting and promoting abortion, NOT accepting the social modifications demanded by climate change advocates, NOT being a vegan, NOT driving an electric car, NOT embracing the feminist agenda, NOT petitioning the government for massive redistribution schemes such as universal health care, universal guaranteed income, etc.

It is also a sin to teach that LGBTQ’s can be given freedom from that ultimately bankrupt lifestyle through therapy, or as Christianity teaches, through the indwelling of the Spirit of God. To suggest that everyone has a God-shaped hole in their heart that only God can satisfy is, perhaps, the ultimate sin.

Because all of humanity is believed to be divided into all manner of artificial categories it is a sin to teach that everyone is equal and that all lives matter. It is a sin to pray for those entering abortion clinics. Suggesting that you will pray for any hurting individual is seen as shallow and meaningless. And suggesting that there is a Creator God who will one day judge the world is a sure sign of deep-seated mental illness.

Such individuals must be silenced because they are disrupting society by teaching what they ought not teach. Titus 1:11

All of these sins and more must be repented of.

  1. In Christianity the Righteousness of the Savior, Jesus Christ, is imputed to the undeserving believer. In Critical Theory the righteousness of those who have suffered Social Injustice is imputed to the Woke. Where and how did these righteous receive their righteousness? They are righteous based on the suffering they have endured as members of victim groups. This is the doctrine of Intersectionality.

Due to the supposed systemic nature of oppression there is a hierarchy of victimhood. Think of Dante’s Inferno and it’s nine levels of hell only in reverse. The most oppressed victim group has the most righteousness to offer whereas the white male group has absolutely no righteousness of its own whatsoever.

To be clear, this doctrine teaches that all un-Woke whites oppress people of color, all un-Woke heterosexuals oppress all sexual minorities, all un-Woke men oppress women, all un-Woke Christians oppress Muslims, atheists, etc. You may not think that you have oppressed or discriminated against others but simply by virtue of the fact that you belong to these groups, white, heterosexual, male, etc. you are an unrepentant repressor.

Like Christianity it is impossible for you to merit your own justification. So, for example, the white male must confess his sin of being complicit in oppression by virtue of his being born a white male. He must declare his Wokeness and agree to live a life of self-denial and penance, becoming an ally to all oppressed victims. Only by confessing and continuing to live a life of penance will he then, and only then, have the righteousness of those oppressed victims imputed to him.

It is crucial to understand the Ordo Salutis, the Order of Salvation of the Critical Theory/Social Justice religion.

  1. Check Your Privilege, being made aware of your blindness and embracing Social Justice.
  2. Woke, becoming an ally of all victim groups.
  3. Intersectionality, the righteousness of the victim groups you are allied with is imputed, counted in your favor. You have now attained salvation through their victimhood…

“through the obedience of the One the many will be made righteous.” Romans 5:19

Similarly, white women must confess to people of color; black males must confess to women of color; every heterosexual must atone to all lesbians, gays, and bisexuals; gays and bisexuals must confess to transsexuals. Of course, this only scratches the surface of sanctioned minorities; environmentalists, anti-capitalists, socialists, vegans, etc., and, as yet unsanctioned sexual minorities such as pedophiles and those championing beastiality.

But, of course, victim groups rarely stand in isolation. This is where the doctrine of intersectionality explodes exponentially. You may belong to many groups simultaneously; you may be black, female, vegan, and transgender, thereby multiplying victimhood. Or you may be white, male, lesbian and transgender, or any variety of combinations. There have been instances of white women claiming to be black in order to add to their woman victim credits and a case where a white woman added to her woman victimhood by identifying as a Native American, significantly advancing both her credibility and career.

5. There is an established Sainthood.

There is a Sainthood based on the hierarchy of Intersectionality. One example of this is acceptance of the Transgender. It may be a scientific fact, long established by genome research, that the male of the species may be identified by the presence of X and Y chromosomes and that these chromosomes are present in every cell in the male body bathing the body in testosterone, giving the male greater muscle mass, tendon strength, bone density, and a host of other physical advantages over the female of the species with her two X chromosomes. Nevertheless, athletic competitions across the West are now allowing XY’s who identify as female to compete against XX’s allowing the XY’s to shatter existing XX records. Further, the court system is beginning to remove children who identify as transgender from parents who deny the assertion that their young son is a daughter or that their daughter is a son.

The transgender self-conception may not be questioned: Sainthood.

There was one celebrated instance where a 6’2” white male Gold Medal winning Olympic athlete announced that he was actually a female. ESPN celebrated his Wokeness by awarding him the Arthur Ashe Courage Award.

The same reasoning may be used to confer sainthood on other deeply committed Social Justice Warriors on the intersectionality scale.

“So then you are no longer strangers and aliens, but you are fellow citizens with the Saints.” Ephesians 2:19

  1. Just as Christians, given the gift of salvation based on the sacrifice of Christ are to change their outlook and behavior, so too Social Justice believers are to do penance and live lives of self-denial.

Though forgiveness is offered to the worst of all sinners, even white, heterosexual males, this grace is not cheap. You must never forget that you did nothing to earn your salvation. It was imputed to you on the basis of the victimhood of the minorities that your group oppressed. As such you must now:

“work out your salvation with fear and trembling to prove yourself worthy of your calling.” Philippians 2:12

You must support the cause of the oppressed groups with generous donations of both money and time. You must vote according to the dictates of Critical Theory. This leads naturally to the next doctrine taught by the faith…

  1. Just as Christians are to gather together for support and to worship their Savior, Social Justice Believers are to gather regularly for corporate worship.

“Do not forsake the gathering together as some are in habit of doing. But rather encourage one another… because the days are evil…” Hebrews 10:25

Systemic oppression is believed to be deeply embedded in Western Culture. Believers must gather together regularly to protest the oppression wherever it is found, Washington D.C., Wall Street, college campuses.

Believers must also gather together to celebrate and, by so doing, invite others into the life of Critical Theory truth, through community outreach such as gay pride parades. Or “Whenever two or three” transgenders are gathered together to groom children, reading books to children in the local library or in the local school, Critical Theory is with them. Matthew 18:20

Finally, the faithful organize such things as boycotts, riots, insurrections, and petitions to bring attention to those who support oppression. For example, even though Chick-fil-a and Hobby Lobby hire LGBTQ employees and sell their products to all without discrimination, because their owners hold the antiquated belief that marriage is a sacred God given union between a man and a woman, these businesses must be boycotted and when possible expelled from the community. Similarly Samaritan’s Purse and others Christian groups must not be allowed to spread the hate of their outdated religion.

  1. Believers are taught to be aware of demons and resist and flee from them.

Idols; monuments erected memorializing the oppressors of the past, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Kate Smith, Martin Luther, John Calvin, Abraham Lincoln, and countless others must be identified and torn down so that their false and oppressive teachings are not celebrated or passed on to future generations.

Because the antiquated Biblical teaching that God created the nations of the world is the root of much oppression, the world map must be redrawn by either the United Nations or by unchecked immigration, eliminating oppressive nations such as Israel, the United States, the UK, Germany, France, South Africa, and many others, with the goal of creating one world, under one government; a world in harmony.

Safe Spaces must be established on colleges and in communities where the faithful may find rest for their weary souls from the constant lies of the oppressors, the un-Woke.

“Flee from every form of evil… may your entire spirit, soul, and body be kept blameless.” I Thessalonians 5:22

  1. Those who teach against the faith are heretics who must be silenced.

The un-Woke not only accept the false teachings of long dead white men but they attempt to spread these lies to the public. This must be stopped. For example, in the United States the un-Woke appeal to the ancient documents, such as the Constitution, written by the oppressors, claiming that these documents somehow grant them the right to assemble, spreading their lies in public, the right to worship as they choose, meaning they may oppress whom they choose, the right to say what ever they want even if it contradicts the truth, and the right to own weapons. These documents must be ignored and their outdated teachings must be overthrown.

The un-Woke must be silenced. They must not be allowed on platforms to continue spreading their lies; Social Media, news papers, radio, television. Fairness doctrines must be established to counter their lies. The Woke must explore ways to re-educate the un-woke. And these dangerous and insane unrepentant sinners must never be allowed to own weapons. They must be given an ultimatum, turn in your weapons or go to jail.

“For many are rebellious and full of empty talk and deception… who must be silenced…” Titus 1:10

  1. Those who have left the faith are apostates who must be shunned and silenced.

As with any religion there are those who were once believers but who have left the faith. These are dangerous adversaries because they know the doctrines of the faith and seek to justify their apostasy by trying to refute the truth.

One such adversary is Harvard Professor, Dr. Alan Dershowitz. He formerly was championed as a “Civil Liberties Lion” but is now rejected and disgraced after authoring “Trumped Up: How Criminalization of Political Differences Endangers Democracy.”

Another adversary is David Horowitz. He was once an outspoken champion of Critical Theory; defender of Marxism and close friend of Black Panther Party founder, Huey Newton, however in his most recent books, “Dark Agenda” and “The Enemy Within” he gives those who oppose Critical Theory inside information in an attempt to destroy the religion.

I was a Marxist revolutionary editing the largest magazine of the New Left, and hell-bent on bringing the American Century to an end… I was side by side with the leaders of the Black Panthers who were the forerunners of the BLM Marxists of today… The Panthers had contempt for the civil rights movement and dismissed its leader as “Martin Luther Coon.” Today, King’s dream of a color-blind society is considered “racist” by BLM… The left… helped the Communists win the war in Vietnam. There were no leftist protests when the Communists slaughtered two and a half million Indo-Chinese peasants. These events opened my eyes to the evils that anti-American radicals had made possible. That’s when I left their ranks.

Traitors like Dershowitz and Horowitz must be shunned. They must not be allowed to speak on any platform.

“They went out from us, but they did not really belong to us. For if they had belonged to us, they would have remained with us; but their going showed that none of them belonged to us.” I John 2:19

Karl Marx, the grandfather of today’s Marxist Critical Theory famously said, “Religion is the opiate of the masses.” As we have seen, Critical Theory is no less a religion than the Christianity that Marx so vehemently opposed. In making that point, modern day commentator, Kurt Schlichter has cleverly turned Marx’s phrase on its head:

“Wokeium is the opiate of the jackasses. And our Establishment is the pusher. Like all drugs, wokeness is designed to alter reality. Wokeium makes you think others are bad, and evil, and racist, and sexist, and transphobic… You hallucinate that your enemy [is] the cause of all of your misery… You finally feel that you have some meaning and purpose in your life. You are on the side of right… ”

In the zero-sum world of social justice power struggle, there is no ‘live and let live’ tolerance. No win-win, or even compromise. No place for forgiveness, or grace. No ‘love your enemy.’ No ‘first get the log out of your own eye’ introspection. There is only grievance, condemnation, and retribution. Bigots, haters, and oppressors must be destroyed. – Scott David Allen
