Are you Salty?

Colossians 4:6 says; Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt, so that you may know how you ought to answer each person.

Seasoned with salt??  What does that mean? We know salt is a preservative and provides flavor to our food but what does that have to do with us?. In John 21 the risen Jesus Christ tells Peter to “feed my sheep.” We are also told to be “salt and light.”

Let your speech always be gracious, seasoned with salt,” – our speech should be filled with the flavor of Christ and His Word. With God’s influence, a little salt can flavor the entire dish. The Word teaches us so that we “may know how you ought to answer each person.

So, I should be devoted to prayer, and study of God’s Word to flavor all that I do and say.

Thank you, Father, for your Word and Your Spirit within us that continuously teaches us Your hope and wisdom so we may share it, not keeping it to ourselves, but flavoring our words and deeds to display the light of Your hope through Jesus Christ to all that light may contact. – Amen
