Psalm 6 study added!

Have you ever been sick and instead of being comforted by other Christians found that they blamed you for your misfortune?  That was the situation that Job found himself in as his three friends accused him.  Eliphaz,“who that was innocent ever perished? Or where were the upright cut off?  As I have seen, those who plow iniquity and sow trouble reap the same” Job 4:7-8.  Bildad, says “See, God will not reject a blameless person nor take the hand of evildoers” Job 8:20.  Zophar, says “If iniquity is in your hand, put it far away, do not let wickedness reside in your tents. Job 11:14-15.  Some friends!

In Psalm 6 David finds himself in the same situation.  There are commonly 2 misconceptions about illness in the Christian Community.  1. We might believe that we are ill because God is punishing us, like Job’s friends believed.  Or, 2, because we know that God is sovereign we think that we should praise God for our suffering.  As the Holy Spirit reveals to us through David, both positions are shortsighted.
