1 Why do the nations conspire |
Men know that God rules the world but they hate it! Romans 1:18-20
They are self-centered and make alliances to overthrow God. They thought that if they crucified Christ, or, present day, kill Christians they will be free of God. |
| 4 The One enthroned in heaven laughs; the Lord scoffs at them. 5 He rebukes them in his anger and terrifies them in his wrath, saying, 6 “I have installed my king on Zion, my holy mountain.” |
God’s response?
He laughs … idiots! Like we laugh at a two year old saying “no” to us. Is defying God a good idea? Think: God’s anger and rebuke. Though crucified, Christ is risen! |
|
7 I will proclaim the Lord’s decree: He said to me, “You are my son; today I have become your father. |
Christ is reigning from Heaven with all authority. Matthew 28:18 |
| 8 Ask me, and I will make the nations your inheritance, the ends of the earth your possession. 9 You will break them with a rod of iron; you will dash them to pieces like pottery.” |
All the earth will belong to Christ.
What happens to those who hate God? Have you ever seen an iron rod hit Pottery? |
| 10 Therefore, you kings, be wise; be warned, you rulers of the earth. 11 Serve the Lord with fear and celebrate his rule with trembling. 12 Kiss his son, or he will be angry and your way will lead to your destruction, for his wrath can flare up in a moment. Blessed are all who take refuge in him. |
Despite their rebellion God offers both a warning and grace.
Acknowledge Christ’s universal rule and live accordingly. The choice is yours: destruction or the blessing of refuge. |
| Do you pray for God’s enemies to be destroyed or to acknowledge Christ? |
